Pause

One of the ways we can feel a deeper connection to the Lord is by serving others! You might serve in a ministry at church, mow an elderly neighbor’s grass, or use your gifts and talents to help in some other way.  Have you experienced the joy of using your skills to serve others without needing anything in return? How did it impact your relationship with God?  

Pause and ask the Lord what people He may be leading you to serve. And if you’re unsure what giftings you may have to share with others, consider taking our Spiritual Gifts Assessment, then reflect on your results.

Matthew 7:12 NIV

“So in everything, do to others what you would have them do for you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” 

For comparison, here is the same verse in The Message paraphrase: 

“Here is a simple, rule-of-thumb guide for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you, then grab the initiative and do it for them. Add up God’s Law and Prophets and this is what you get.” 


Walk with God

This statement Jesus made in today’s passage is sometimes referred to as “The Golden Rule.” He summarized how we are to treat others with this one thought. What is God highlighting to you through this scripture? Ask Him to show you ways to love and serve your family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and others He places along your path.
