Walking with the Spirit
Exodus 33:1-3 NIV
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Leave this place, you and the people you
brought up out of Egypt, and go up to the land I promised on oath to
Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, saying, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’ I
will send an ANGEL before you and drive out the Canaanites, Amorites,
Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. Go up to the land flowing with
milk and honey. But I will not go with you, because you are a stiffnecked people and I might destroy you on the way.”
Exodus 33:14-16 NIV
The LORD replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you
rest.” Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do
not send us up from here. How will anyone know that you are pleased
with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will
distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of
the earth?”
Galatians 5:16-25 NIV
So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the
flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit
what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so
that you are not to do whatever you want. But if you are led by the
Spirit, you are not under the law. The acts of the flesh are obvious:
sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft;
hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions,
factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I
did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of
God. BUT the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against
such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have
crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the
Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
What happens when we walk with the Holy Spirit?
1) We get His FRUIT
Love – Joy – Peace – Patience – Kindness – Goodness –
Faithfulness – Gentleness – Self-Control

2) HE produces the Fruit
Galatians 5:1 NLT
So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and
don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.
Galatians 3:2-3 NLT
Let me ask you this one question: Did you receive the Holy Spirit by
obeying the law of Moses? Of course not! You received the Spirit
because you believed the message you heard about Christ. How foolish
can you be? After starting your new lives in the Spirit, why are you now
trying to become perfect by your own human effort?
John 15:5 NIV
I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you,
you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
It’s my job to walk with Him & it’s His job to produce the fruit.

3) His fruit MATURES over time
I am not what I ought to be, I am not what I want to be, I am not what
I hope to be in another world; but still I am not what I once used to be,
and by the grace of God I am what I am. – John Newton
Walking in joy doesn’t mean incessant laughter or walking naively
through life. It’s the kind of joy that breeds peace, a result of resting &
knowing who you are and who our Papa is. It’s walking through the day
listening to the heart of God for your life. Joy doesn’t come
automatically, and let’s be honest, it definitely doesn’t come for most in
the morning… but it can! Wake up, choose joy & refuse to give another
ounce of yourself to the enemy. Choose joy, pray in joy, and I
guarantee you’ll find that your days get better, your smile gets bigger,
and over time, you’ll wake up happy… and movable only by joy, not by
fear. – Mallory Cruz
