As we turn our attention to God today, let’s pause in praise and worship. Where praise is more about declaring God’s greatness, worship leans more toward bowing in God’s presence and lingering in adoration.

Matthew 6:14-15 NIV

“For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” 

Here are the same verses in The Message paraphrase: 

“In prayer there is a connection between what God does and what you do. You can’t get forgiveness from God, for instance, without also forgiving others. If you refuse to do your part, you cut yourself off from God’s part.” 


Walk with God

What is God saying to you through today’s scriptures? 

It’s important to remember that Jesus said He came to accomplish the law. He is the only one who has perfectly fulfilled what they require, which, in this case, is perfect forgiveness. We only receive forgiveness from the Father by believing in Jesus. So, what do you think Jesus means in these verses? 

Forgiving others can be difficult at times. Ask God who you need to forgive. It is likely that the Holy Spirit brings at least one person to mind. With His help, seek to forgive whoever comes to mind as you pray.
