Pause

Welcome to week three of 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting! Take a moment to reflect on the past two weeks. What has God done in you? What have you learned about Him or yourself?

One way to draw close to God is by worshiping with other believers. Think of a time when your life was impacted by God in a worship service.

We encourage you to be a part of one of our services today! Check out one of our in-person campuses or our online campus.

Matthew 7:1-6 NIV

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

“Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.”

Walk with God

There are three ideas here, so take a moment to look at, assess, and pray through each one:

Judging Others — The focus here is that we lack the ability to see the true motivations of another person’s heart. Only God can see or judge what’s happening in our hearts and minds. Can you remember a time when you misjudged someone? Could you be misjudging someone now in your life?  Pause and invite God to speak to you.

Judging Yourself —We tend to criticize others based on their actions and ourselves based on our intentions. Do you give yourself the proper time to take inventory of what needs to improve in your own life?  Stay humble. Awareness of our own shortcomings makes us more like Jesus toward others. What “plank in your own eye” might you need to take to God in prayer?

Judging How and Who You Share Truth With — The final verse is about sharing God’s truth and how we should respond if we encounter people who won’t receive His truth. Have you had someone respond poorly to loving truth you’ve shared? Have you responded poorly when someone else shared loving truth with you? What is God saying to you about this verse?
